With teacher shortages a widespread concern across the UK and recruiting and retaining the best teaching talent becoming more difficult, schools need to find creative ways to manage the skills gap, without compromising on providing a quality education.
One way we’ve been working with schools to help bridge this gap is through the employment of apprentices - helping develop diverse teams and retain top talent. The fully funded apprenticeship programme (paid out of your contribution to the Apprenticeship Levy) will help you bring in new skills and talent, helping meet the diverse and individual needs of learners and contributing to the improvement of schools.

This training will give them the chance to gain all the key knowledge and training required to work within education while they get valuable hands-on experience working in your education setting. Once qualified, you’ll benefit from a highly trained and qualified level 3 teaching assistant, who is ready to join your team as a permanent member of staff.

FAQs
The apprenticeship programme will last for 16 months.
Anyone under the age of 25 will be eligible for NI relief, with 15.15% of their annual take home being paid directly back into the business each year.
The teaching assistant apprentice will be paid for 40 weeks across 52 weeks. The pay will be determined by the age of the apprentice.
There are 18 days of training across the course, 9 of those will take place at the start of the programme in a recommended 3 days per week for 3 weeks pattern. The remaining 9 sessions will be delivered within school breaks and holidays to keep the learners in the classroom as much as possible.
Learners will need to have roughly 2 hours of admin time per week (this can be split however is best for the employer - half an hour per day or a block of time).
Managers will need to be present for 30 minutes every 8 weeks on review calls to give updates on their learners and keep up with the programme. They will also be expected to sign a review document and a training plan document on that call (this takes about 2 minutes to complete).
